CLEVELAND, OH - After a stellar
effort at one of the top distance events in the country, Ari Fisher was named
the Mid-American Conference's Women's Track Athlete of the Week, as announced
by the league office late Thursday.
The Lebanon, OH native won her heat in the 5000-meter run at the
Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford, CA on Saturday, setting an NCAA
qualifying time in the process. Fisher crossed the line in 16:24.27, which is
the second-fastest time in school history and the seventh-best mark in Mid-American
Conference history.
Her performance is the best time in the MAC this spring, and
Fisher also holds the MAC's best time in the 3000-meter run as well.
Fisher, the MAC's cross country champion in the fall, earned her
first track athlete of the week honors this season. She picked up runner of the
Week distinctions twice last fall.
The Rockets host the Toledo Tune-Up at 10 a.m. Friday at the UT
Varsity Track.
