BUFFALO, NY - Led by a trio of top
three finishers, Toledo's track and field team is in seventh place after day
two of the MAC Championships, hosted by Buffalo.
The
Rockets have tallied 21 points through seven scored events, with 14 events left
on Saturday's final day. Kent State leads with its total of 54 points.
Dagna Sztykiel had the top performance for UT, as she finished second in the
steeplechase with her time of 10:38.11, which is fourth on the school's
all-time list.
Meanwhile,
Julie Snyder recorded a third place finish in the heptathlon with her total of
4885 points. She took second in the long jump with a leap of 18-05.75, placed
sixth in the javelin (88-11) and seventh in the 800 (2:33.81). Her point total
is third on the school's all-time list.
Kiah Douglas, in her first MAC Championships, recorded a third-place effort in the
long jump with a mark of 19-01.25 on her third jump. Snyder nearly missed
scoring as she took ninth at 18-03.75, and Alexandra Afloari was a notch behind
her in tenth (18-03.00).
In
the preliminary track events, Amanda Kaverman qualified for the finals in both
the 100 and 200 meter dash. Her time of 11.76 in the 100 was the third-fastest,
and her mark of 24.07 in the 200 was second.
Saturday's
finals begin at 11 a.m. with the high jump.
