Meisler, Powers Named Papa John's Athletes Of The Week

Mon, May, 17 | Baseball, General, Women's Track and Field

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Papa John's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are baseball player Logan Meisler and track and field athlete Barbara Powers.

Male Athlete of the Week
Logan Meisler, a senior from Port Clinton, Ohio, hit for the cycle in Friday's 14-12 loss to Kent State and finished the day with two runs scored and three RBI. He led the game off with a triple, tying the school record for triples in a season, knocked in a run on an infield single in the second, ripped a double in the third, and completed the cycle with a solo homer in his final at-bat of the day. He slugged .929 for the weekend and finished with 13 total bases, both team highs.

Female Athlete of the Week
Barbara Powers, a junior from Bowling Green, Ohio, placed sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2010 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Buffalo, N.Y., with a career-best time of 11:02.30. Her time in the steeplechase is fifth-best in school history.
