Three Blue Streaks Earn Recognition On 2009-10 Academic All-OAC Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Team

Emily Tillmaand was All-OAC in both cross country and track & field, and now can claim Academic All-OAC in both sports as well
John Carroll University had three student-athletes receive recognition as part of the 2009-10 Academic All-OAC Women's Cross Country/Track & Field team.

Seniors Emily Tillmaand and Trish Doherty were named Academic All-OAC winners, while sophomore Megan Lutz picked up honorable mention status.

Tillmaand, a four-year letterwinner in both cross country and track & field, is a Biochemistry major who carries a 3.82 grade point average. Just this season alone, Tillmaand was the 2010 OAC outdoor runner-up in 10,000-meter run, and posted five top 20 finishes in cross country, including a second consecutive honorable mention all-conference run at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships.

Doherty is a two-year letterwinner for both cross country and track at JCU. In cross country, Doherty earned All-OAC status as both a junior (13th place - honorable mention) and senior (9th place - 1st team) . An Early Childhoos major with a 3.70 grade point average, Doherty also earned all-league accolades in track as a member of the distance medley relay at the 2010 OAC Indoor Championships.

A sophomore English and Secondary Education double major who carries a 3.95 grade point average, Lutz has lettered twice in both track & cross country. She earned all-conference status by placing third in the 800-meter run both at the 2010 OAC Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and was part of an All-OAC distance medley relay team at the 2010 conference indoor meet.

All three student-athletes were listed as part of the Academic All-OAC team for the first time.

To be eligible for Academic All-OAC, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point, be a starter or key reserve and be in at least her second year of participation in the sport.
