Bowling Green State University head men's cross country coach, Cami Wells, has announced that Luke Zerkle will be joining the Falcons for the 2010-11 academic year.

Zerkle, a 2010 graduate of Tippecanoe High School in Tipp City, Ohio, ran a personal-best of 4:29.76 in the 1,600 meters and 17:25.46 in the 5,000 meters . He was also a member of the Ohio State Division II qualifier in the 4x800 meter relay team and placed eighth at Regionals in the 1,600 meters. He added a third-place finish at Districts in the same event.

“Luke has a great attitude and enthusiasm and will be a positive addition to the team in every way," said Wells. "Luke was able to train and race healthy this spring and he had a tremendous season on the track bringing down his personal best times but a significant margin. Transitioning to the 8K will be a challenge the first year but I am confident Luke can develop into a very competitive DI cross country runner with continued hard work. We are very excited to have Luke joining the team.”

Zerkle was born on Jan. 30, 1992, is the son of John and Sue Zerkle and plans to major in education.
