Falcon Cross Country Opens Season Today At Home

The Bowling Green men's and women's cross country teams open their 2010 schedule today when they host Mid-American Conference rival Toledo in a dual meet on the BGSU campus.
Each race with be five kilometers (5K), with the women's race starting at 5:00pm and the men's race following at 5:45pm.
The races will begin on the south side of Whittaker Track, next to the football stadium. It will go west, around the intramural fields, then come back towards the stadium behind the tennis courts and Cochrane Field. The teams will then go around Cochrane Field and go west following Stadium Drive, where the first mile will be completed.
The teams will cross Stadium Drive next to the BGSU Ice Arena, where they will circle the baseball and softball fields located next to Forrest Creason golf course. After crossing Stadium Drive again, the runners will cross in front of the tennis courts and Cochrane Field, completing the second mile of the race.
The final leg of the race will take the runners around Perry Stadium and Whittaker track, then north on Stadium Drive to "Bill's Hill". After circling the hill, the teams will arrive at the finish just to the east of Stadium Drive behind Perry Stadium.

The Orange and Brown will be looking for redemption for disappointments in last year's dual meet at Toledo. For the men, Chris Moody finished third and Jason Salyer finished sixth, but Toledo took the win, 19 to 40. Meanwhile, Toledo took the top five spots in the women's race (4K), while BGSU took spots six through ten, on the way to a 15-40 Rockets' victory.
In today's men's race, the Rockets will send out 16 runners against Bowling Green's 14. The Falcons will have 12 runners to Toledo's 11 in the women's race.
