JCU Off To Good Start Based On Season-Opening Sudeck Invitational Results

A strong team effort against a strong field carried the Blue Streaks to a fourth place finish at the Sudeck Classic
John Carroll went up against two nationally ranked teams in its season opening meet, and showed it could compete head-to-head with some of the best Saturday at the 2010 Bill Sudeck Classic held at Case Reserve's Valleevue Farm in Hunting Valey, Ohio.

Results

#23 ranked Case finished first with 34 points, followed by #29 Baldwin-Wallace with 61. Unranked Allegheny (69) and John Carroll (77) were close behind, with Ursuline (151) and Notre Dame (158) rounding out the field.

Newcomer Anna Busta showed off her talents on the 4,000-meter course made all the more difficult with a steady rain and wind that pelted the competitors. In her collegiate debut, Busta placed fifth overall with a time of 15.17.

The returning veterans fared well also, as sophomore Ashley Aberl was 11th (15:39) and junior Megan Lutz was next across in 12th (15:46).

Also scoring points for the Blue Streaks were sophomore Katherine Spillman (30th, 16:30.57) and junior Andrea Brown (32nd, 16:34)
