AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — The
Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) office announced the second installment of its Athletes of the Week Monday (Sept. 13) afternoon and Marietta College sophomore
Caleb Muller (Columbus/Bexley) was tabbed the OAC's Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Muller captured the individual title at the Carl Broughton Invitational, hosted by the Pioneers on Sept. 11. He set a new meet record by six seconds after crossing the line of the 8,000 meter course in 26:58.06.
Muller teamed with classmate
Caleb Ellis (St. Albans, W.Va./St. Albans) and junior
Terrance Wallace (Westerville/Westerville Central) to take the top three spots in the race and help Marietta finish runner-up in the men's standings.
A week ago, Muller anchored the men's team with a fifth place finish at the Sea Gull Opener, hosted by Salisbury University. The sophomore, who crossed the line in 26:18, ran the second fastest time by any Pioneer since the program's reinstatement in 2002. Only former teammate
Josh Mickle (Madison/Madison) has posted a faster time in an 8K race.
Marietta will take a week off before returning to action Saturday (Sept. 25) morning when the Pioneers compete at the Otterbein Invitational.
