MEET RESULTS

The Bowling Green State University men's cross country team competed in their third meet of the 2010 season on Friday (Sept. 17), when they traveled to East Lansing, Mich. for the 2010 Spartan Invitational.

The Falcons ran an 8K against over 20 other schools from the Ohio, Michigan and Indiana region, including two Mid-American Conference opponents (Miami and Cenral Michigan).

The meet host, Michigan State, is ranked 18th in the current United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) poll.

No team scoring occurred for the meet.  Only individual results were tallied.

As he has for each Bowling Green meet since the beginning of his sophomore season, senior Chris Moody was the Falcons' top performer.  His 8K time of 0:25:55 gave him a 41st place finish out of the 288 runners in the event.

Sophomore Jason Salyer, as he has in each of Bowling Green's previous two meets in 2010, finished just behind Moody.  Salyer completed the course in 0:26:05, placing 52nd.

First-year runners Rob Kelvey and Greg Black also both registered times under 27 minutes.  Kelvey finished 97th with a time of 0:26:50, while Black crossed the finish line only six seconds later, in 107th place.

Senior Jesse Smuda ran the course in 0:27:01.

Commenting on the results of the meet, head coach Cami Paulson said, "We really needed to tighten up our top five runners, and they accomplished that goal.  Now we need to keep closing that gap and have our 6, 7, 8, and 9th men right there as well.  The team is training well and progressing week to week.  The men are also very excited to race at the All-Ohio Meet in two weeks.  We will use this next week to get in some good quality training and get ready for the second half of the season.

Complete results can be found at the link at the top of the story.

The Falcons now take two weeks off before the home stretch of their schedule.  First up in October will be the All-Ohio Championships on Friday, October 1st.  Two weeks after, Bowling Green hosts their final meet of the year when the Falcon Invitational commences on Saturday, October 16th.  Then, after another two week break, the Falcons travel to the MAC Championships on Saturday, October 30th.
