Men's Cross Country Runs Well in The Limelight Of National Catholic Meet

Pat Burns was one of three Blue Streaks in the top 100 of the College Division at the 2010 National Catholic Championships
Going up against some of the best Division I and II teams in the country had a nice effect on the John Carroll men's cross country team, as the Blue Streaks placed 13th of 25 teams in the college division of the 2010 National Catholic Championships held Friday at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.

Results:  College Division  /  All Divisions

Bellarmine from Division II won the meet with 42 points, followed by Siena Heights with 87 and Lewis University with 103. Loras College was the top Division III team with 106, while John Carroll tallied 360 points to finish exactly in the middle of the college division pack.

Jake Smith was the top placer for the Blue Streaks, taking 31st in a time of 27:16. His time was also good enough to finish in the top 100 of the all divisions standings, earning him 83rd place.

Rookie Chuck Mule was next across for JCU, as he just missed top 100 status in the all divisions race (106th). His time of 27:30 was good for 47th in the college division.

Rounding out the top five for the Streaks were Pat Burns, Matt Tarchick and Nick Wojtasik. Burns was 73rd in the college division with a time of 27:56, Tarchick placed 103rd in 29:00 and Wojtasik was 106th in 29:04.
