Different Cast Of Characters Leads Men's Cross Country To Sixth Place Showing In Connecticut

The John Carroll men's cross country team used a slightly different cast of characters toscore points Saturday afternoon, placing sixth out of eight teams at the 34th Annual Father Leeber S.J. Invitational hosted by Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut.

Results

As the only Division III team in the field, John Carroll scored 161 points. Host Fairfield (32) edged Sacred Heart (45) for the team title.

Jake Smith turned in an impressive performance, as he placed 13th overall in a field comprised of Division I and II schools. His time was 27:43.99 on the 8,000-meter course.

Patrick Burns was next across for the Blue Streaks, as he placed 22nd in a time of 28;15.49.

Nick Wojtasik, Brian Bayer and Bob Seeholzer earned 41st, 42nd and 43rd place, respectively. Wojtasik was clocked at 30:33.12, with Bayer (30:37.94) and Seeholzer (30:50.29) close behind. Bayer and Seeholzer finished in the top five for the first time this season for John Carroll.
