YPSILANTI, MI - With the MAC Championship meet looming next weekend, a partial group of Rocket runners raced in the open Eastern Michigan Invitational on Saturday. Lei Bornhorst paced the women, finishing 12th, while Nick Brenner led the men, finishing 35th.

While most of the squad continued training for the MAC Championships, those likely to not compete in Kalamazoo next weekend used the invite in Ypsilanti as an opportunity for live competition.

Following close behind Bornhorst (18:49.4) in the women's 5000 meter race was Hannah Brisson in 19th (18:56.9) and Amanda Mannon in 21st (18:58.2). Rounding out the competition for the women was Ali Fisher (60th, 20:05.4), Maureen Gibbs (73rd, 20:46.9) and Megan Chambers (85th, 21:43.1).

On the men's side, following Brenner (16:45.1) in the men's 5000 meter race was Derek Pohlman (42nd, 16:56.4), Joel Kozlesky (43rd, 16:58.0), David Moore (47th, 17:01.9) and Taylor Durczynski (67th, 17:50.3).
