BGSU Hosted, Placed Second at 2010 All-Ohio Meet

MEET SCHEDULE

After a strong third-place finish in their season opening meet, the Bowling Green State University track and field team takes to the road for the first time this season on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 21-22) when they travel to Kent, Ohio for the 2011 All-Ohio Championships.

The All-Ohio meet is an annual event open to universities and colleges from across the state.  In 2011, nearly 20 women's track and field teams will gather on the campus of Kent State University to compete in the statewide event.

The Falcons are one of six Mid-American Conference teams who will make the trip.  The Golden Flashes, who host the event, will also welcome Akron.  Those two schools have combined to win the last six MAC Indoor championships.  Also competing will be Miami, who BGSU defeated last weekend, as well as Toledo and Ohio University.

Head coach Cami Paulson said, "It is always great motivation to go up against the other schools in the MAC during the regular season meets.  It gives you an idea where you stand in the conference at a given time."

Other competing schools include Dayton, Cincinnati, Xavier, Wright State, Youngstown State, Ashland and Findlay.

All of these schools face 14 different individual track and field events, as well as two relays.  Last week at the BGSU Challenge, the Falcons scored in each of the 16 events, creating a very high standard to duplicate.

Bowling Green athletes also set over two dozen personal records at the BGSU Challenge.  Among those were Jeanette Pettigrew in the 60m dash, whose 7.55 seconds came ever closer to the school record in the event, and Ashley Harris, who set personal records in both the weight throw and the shot put.

Paulson added, "Last week, we had an opportunity to get over the first meet jitters and see some very solid competition in all areas.  Now, we want to build on that and be more confident and agreesive.  The competition (this week) will be very solid across the board."
