OHIO FRESHMEN AND SOPHOMORES POST STANDOUT MARKS
Kenneth Fordenwalt (157-1 DT), Paul Mizukawa (1:58.00 800m), Maya Hutchinson (25.40 200m), and Promise Wilson (14.66 100H) headline a strong week.
BOYS
Fordenwalt threw 157-1 to place third at the Hudson v Solon Dual on Apr. 22, a PR and a significant jump from his 2025 outdoor best of 123-8. He opened this season throwing 133-7 at the Hudson v Twinsburg Dual on Apr. 8, went 135-2 at the Stow v Hudson meet on Apr. 15, then finally heaved it 157-1 a week later. The 33-foot improvement from last season places him 70th in Ohio across all grades in the discus and 9th among sophomores.
Mizukawa ran 1:58.00 to place fifth at the Anderson Invitational on Apr. 22-23, a mark that ties the freshman at 41st in Ohio across all grades. He is the top-ranked 800m runner in his class now. Prior to his sub-two performance, his only other 800m on the books was his 2:06.31 debut at the distance the week before. How's that for an improvement trajectory! He's also making a case for himself as a 400m runner - he opened his outdoor season running 54.09 at the Anderson Tune Up Invitational on Mar. 27 before posting 52.28 at the West Clermont Invitational on Apr. 2.
GIRLS
Hutchinson ran 25.40 to place second at the Twinsburg vs. Stow Dual on Apr. 22, a PR that ties her at 30th in Ohio across all grades in the 200m. She opened the season at 27.25 at the Bill Dodd Invitational on Apr. 4, then ran 26.66 at the GlenOak Second Sole Eagle Elite on Apr. 18 before her dual-meet PR. Her 2025 outdoor best was 26.82 at the Suburban League Championships - her new PR is already more than a second faster than anything she ran as a freshman. Hutchinson also ran 12.80 in the 100m at the same Apr. 22 dual, a PR in that event as well.
Wilson ran 14.66 to win the Anderson Invitational on Apr. 22-23, a PR that ties her for 8th in Ohio across all grades in the 100m hurdles. The time was a more than half second improvement on her 15.37 win at the Batavia Invitational on Apr. 14, which itself followed a 16.52 sixth-place finish at the Troy Herb Hartman Invitational on Apr. 10. Her 2025 outdoor best was 15.94, set at the ECC League Championship. Wilson opened this outdoor season at 16.11 at the Loveland Early Bird on Mar. 27.
