(11:25 a.m.)
The real madness does not get underway until 1:00 p.m., but there are still events taking place right now.  While the competitors in the men's heptathlon duel in the pole vault, three women's field events are taking place.  We are closely watching the happenings in all three, but particularly in the high jump and the shot put.  Tatijana Jacobson has produced one of the best marks in MAC high jump competition to date, while our trio of throwers look to add to yesterday's heroics.

We'll get those results posted as soon as they're available.  But for now, let's quickly recap yesterday's events.  The Falcons ended the day tied for third with 28 points.  Fifteen of those were earned in the weight throw, when sophomore Jessie Rowland captured the MAC championship in the event and set a new BGSU weight throw record.  Ashley Harris and Brooke Pleger finished in the top seven, as well.

The championship was the first individual gold for BGSU in four years.

Other scorers on the day included silver medalist Brittani McNeal in the long jump and the Falcons' distance medley relay team.  Meanwhile, Jeanette Pettigrew qualified for two different championship track events today.  In one, the 60 meter dash, she broke her own BGSU record that she set earlier this month.

Results from today should start flowing in shortly -- check back with us soon!

(12:45 p.m.)
Our first championship event of the day is complete.  In the shot put competition, Ashley Harris placed fifth overall.  She progressively got stronger through the six flights of the event and posted her best throw, 14.61 meters, in her last attempt.  Harris earns the Falcons four points that vault the team into third place overall, one point behind Miami.  Jessie Rowland (11.89m) and Brittany Hodges (11.51m) also competed for BGSU.

Buffalo's Rebecca O'Brien set a MAC record as she won the event.  Her best toss was nearly a meter and a half better than anyone else.

(1:20 p.m.)
Two more sets of results have been made official.  In the triple jump, Janelle Campbell placed 14th with a leap of 10.49 meters (34-5.00).  Meanwhile, our first track event of the day is complete.  In the mile run, Nicole Farr earned a point for the Falcons by finishing eighth, crossing the line in 4:59.26.  Autumn Dettmann's time of 5:03.25 secured 11th place and second in her heat.  Ashley Fischer completed the run in 5:16.33 for 18th place.

Overall, the Falcons are now perched in a tie with Miami for sixth place, with 33 points.  However, the standings are incredibly close.  Eastern Michigan is three points ahead of BGSU, while Akron is six ahead.  Both Toledo and Western Michigan are also within ten points of the Falcons' total.

(2:20 p.m.)
High jump results are now available, and Tatijana Jacobson earned points as part of a three-way tie for sixth place.  Jacobson's best leap was 1.65 meters (5-5.00).  Each of the three athletes tied for sixth took two attempts to successfully complete the 1.65 leap and were then unable to complete a jump of 1.70 meters.  Jacobson captured two points for the Falcons, who are currently seventh overall.

But watch out -- the women's 60 meter dash is coming next!  Come back soon for results!

(2:35 p.m.)
That was an amazing 60 meter dash...completely worthy of championship status.  Eastern Michigan's Ashlee Abraham won gold, setting a new MAC record in the process (7.34).  There's not much one can do about that except get better -- and that's exactly what Jeanette Pettigrew is doing.  She yet again broke her own school record with a run of 7.40 seconds, breaking yesterday's mark of 7.43 seconds.  Pettigrew won silver and eight points for BGSU.

Abraham and Pettigrew will battle again in about an hour, in the 200 meter dash finals.

(3:20 p.m.)
The 200 mneter dash is complete, and Jeanette Pettigrew placed ninth in the final after running the distance in 25.53 seconds.  Just two events remain in the 2011 MAC Indoor Championships -- the 3000 meter run and the 4x400 meter relay.  Bowling Green is currently in eighth place with 43 points but still have a chance at a top-half finish, as the Falcons are within 1.5 points of Central Michigan and six of Akron.

(4:05 p.m.)
In the next-to-last event of this year's MAC championship meet, the Falcons ran three athletes in the 3000 meter run.  Barbara Powers, in her last MAC indoor event, completed the 3K in 10:12.17 to place fifth in her meet and 14th overall.  Nicole Farr earned 18th with a time of 10:17.36, while Megan Kelsey placed 23rd, finishing in 10:26.80.

The final event will be the 4x400 meter relay, and Bowling Green's final place depends on the result.  The Falcons, with 43 points, are currently in eighth place.  They cannot finish lower than eighth, but could finish as high as sixth.  BGSU trails Central Michigan by 6.5 points and Akron by eight.  If the Falcons win silver or gold, the opportunity to move up will be there.

(4:40 p.m.)
The women's portion of the 2011 MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships is over.  In the 4x400 meter relay, the Falcons finished seventh with a combined time of 3:50.79.  The two points give Bowling Green a total of 45 for the meet, matching their highest point total in any indoor championship meet since 1999.  The team finishes eighth in an incredibly competitive meet, which was ultimately won by Eastern Michigan, which totaled 118 points, defeating Western Michigan by 29 points.

Thanks for checking with us throughout the day!  Come back later this evening for complete results, a full recap, and videos!
