Falcons Add Two Recruits For 2011-2012 Season

Head Coach Cami Paulson and her staff have announced that the Bowling Green State University track and field and cross country teams have added two more athletes to the incoming recruiting class of 2011-2012.

The signees are Maria Dahlinghaus and Caitlin Lashbrook. Dahlinghaus resides in Minster, Ohio and attends Minster High School, while Lashbrook hails from Rochester, N.Y. and attends Greece Athena High School.

High school:
Member of three-time Division III state champions in cross country (2008-2010) … named Most Valuable Player of Minster track team in 2010 … named All-Midwest Athletic League runner four times … personal best times of 2:18 in the 800 meters and 19:28 in the 5000 meters … earned four letters each in track and cross country … also lettered three times in basketball … named to Division IV girls' basketball All-Tournament team in 2010 … served as team captain in cross country (2010), basketball (2010, 2011), and track (2011) … named Academic All-MAL and Academic All-Ohio in all four years.
 
“Maria is a gifted student-athlete who has excelled in multiple sports at perennial powerhouse Minster High School,” Paulson said. “Maria has the athleticism and determination necessary to make a strong impact on both the cross country and track and field teams. I look forward to having Maria join us this fall.”

Caitlin Lashbrook – Rochester, N.Y. / Greece Athena High School
High school:
Lettered in both cross country and track for the Trojans of Greece Athena HS … owns personal-best times of 19:47 in cross country (5K) and 5:19 in the 1500 meter (track) … named team Most Valuable Player in cross country for the 2010 season … served as cross country captain as a senior … team won Monroe County Athletic Association Division II championship in 2010 … earned second-team All-County status in cross country … in indoor track, member of the school-record holding 4x800m relay team … member of the National Honor Society.
 
Paulson said, “Caitlin has good potential to be a contributor on both the cross country and track and field teams. I am pleased to welcome Caitlin to the program.”

These two signings raise to 14 the total of incoming athletes for BGSU's cross country and track and field teams. Six members of the Falcons' cross country team competed as seniors in the 2010 season, while nine seniors will finish their Falcon track and field careers when the current season concludes in May.
