A strong week of competition shifted several Ohio girls outdoor leaderboards. Here is what stood out, led by three performances from May 8.
Sophia Szolosi of Athens now leads the Ohio girls outdoor 800m and 1600m. On May 8 at the Mason Rod Russell Invitational she ran 4:46.50 in the 1600m. She had already run 2:11.44 in the 800m at the OVRC Invite on Apr 30, which remains the fastest time in the state. Szolosi is a senior who won the Ohio D2 cross country state championship last fall in 16:43.59 and placed at New Balance Nationals Outdoor last year with a 4:30.11 in the 1500m. Indoors this season she went 10:11.79 in the 2-mile at New Balance Nationals for 2nd, and won the D2 Indoor State 1600m in 4:49.81.
Anna Wile of Hilliard Davidson ran 41.44 in the 300mH at the Bradley Invitational on May 8, leading the Ohio girls outdoor 300mH leaderboard and sitting 9th nationally. She also ran 13.74 in the 100mH at the same meet, 2nd on the Ohio list. Wile is a senior who won both the D1 state 100mH and 300mH last year - 13.72 and 42.13 respectively. Her 41.44 is already faster than her state title-winning mark from a year ago. Indoors this season she ran 8.45 in the 60mH, 2nd in Ohio and 19th nationally, and 55.69 in the 400m.
Kaya Asinjo of Oakwood ran 55.93 in the 400m at the Firebird Invitational on May 7-8, leading the Ohio girls outdoor 400m leaderboard. She is just a sophomore, but already sits at the top of the state list.
Neveah Hall of Valley Forge leads the Ohio girls outdoor 100m at 11.74, run at the Bill Dodd Invitational on Apr 4.
Emerson Karrenbauer of Mass. Perry leads the Ohio girls outdoor 200m at 24.43, run at the Federal League dual meet on Apr 28. Karrenbauer finished 2nd at the OATCCC D1 Indoor State Meet in the 200m earlier this season and has been one of the more consistent sprint performers in Ohio all year.
Brooke Chapman of Olentangy Orange leads the Ohio girls outdoor 3200m at 10:17.74, run at the Carmel HS Distance Showcase on Apr 24.
Ric'Keya White of New Albany leads the Ohio girls outdoor 100mH at 13.63, run at the New Albany Eagle Invite on Apr 17. White won the D1 Indoor State 60mH earlier this season.
Samantha Singleton of Solon leads the Ohio girls outdoor long jump at 19-6, jumped at the Hudson v Solon dual on Apr 22.
Annie McCracken of Granville leads the Ohio girls outdoor pole vault at 13-6, cleared at the Fulton Relays on Apr 24.
Ella Hochstetler of Wheelersburg leads the Ohio girls outdoor discus at 153-8, thrown at the West Union HS Invitational on Apr 14.
Emily Mechenbier, a sophomore from Perry, leads the Ohio girls outdoor shot put at 48-7.25, thrown at the SPIRE Spring Invitational on Apr 4.
