PERSONAL BESTS POSTED ACROSS THE STATE
Nathanael Honvou (15-0 PV), Elijah Daniels (10.92 100m), Sammy Jereb (58.78 400m), and Kenadie Gerton (16.08 100H) headline a strong week for Ohio underclassmen.
BOYS
Honvou cleared 15-0 to win the 5th Annual Solon Tom Iwan Invitational on May 8, a PR that ranks him 13th in Ohio across all grades. He opened the season at 13-6 at the Ned Weingart Relays on Apr. 4, cleared 14-0 to place second at the Nordonia Knight Relays on Apr. 11, then returned to 13-6 at the Dick Beeler Invite on Apr. 24 before his latest major PR. He's trending in the right direction at the right time.
At the Orange 9-10th Grade Invitational on May 6, Daniels ran 10.92 to place second, a mark that ranks him 65th in Ohio across all grades. The time represents a significant drop from his 2025 outdoor best of 11.91, set at the Gahanna Lincoln Quad Meet on Apr. 14, 2025. Daniels has been even more productive in the long jump this season, posting a best of 22-3.5 to win the Stingel Invite on Apr. 11, which ranks 30th in Ohio across all grades.
GIRLS
Jereb has been chipping away at the 400m all year, and finally had the. breakthrough that felt inevitable for an athlete of her consistency. She opened at 1:00.59, then ran 1:01.09, 1:00.65, and 1:01.76, before breaking the one-minute barrier with a 58.78 at the Bradley Invitational. That major PR pushes her up to 54th in Ohio across all grades. Her 2025 outdoor best was 59.85, set at the OHSAA 7th & 8th Grade State Track Meet.
Gerton is another athlete who notched a PR that felt like it was a long time coming. She opened the season at 17.73 and has steadily worked her way down since. She ran 17.11, 16.94 to place sixth at the Lakota East Invitational, a wind-aided 17.42, and 17.63, before running a big PR of 16.08 to place fifth at the Dayton Roosevelt Memorial Track Meet on May 9. That time ranks her 131st in Ohio across all grades in the 100m hurdles.
