BGSU Competes At Eastern Michigan Twilight Meet

The Bowling Green State University men's cross country team competed on Saturday (April 23) at the 2011 Eastern Michigan University Twilight meet, earning two top-ten finishes in the process.

Jason Salyer earned the team's best finish of the day, as he placed fourth in the unseeded 5000 meter race. Salyer's 5K time on EMU's Olds/Marshall Track was 15:06.49. Following less than a minute later was Ryan Harrison, who crossed the finish in 15:59.03. Three other runners – Jesse Smuda (16:10.13), Josh Franek (16:16.24) and Perry Fraylick (16:19.80) – also competed for the Falcons.

The team's other top-ten during Saturday's competition occurred in the 3000 meter race. Joe van Bolderen was Bowling Green's only entrant, and he placed seventh overall after a run of 10:03.23.

Peter Miles and Luke Zerkle each ran twice for the Falcons on Saturday. Miles finished 25th in the 1500 meters, posting a time of 4:06.83, while Zerkle posted a mark of 4:13.99. In the 800 meter race, Miles again secured the team's top finish. His 1:58.14 run earned 22nd place. Zerkle crossed the end line four seconds later (2:02.69).

Kyle Grassel also raced in the 800 meters, and his time (1:58.45) placed 26th overall.
