THE GMC BELONGED TO MASON'S SENIORS
Hawkins is committed to Maryland and unbeaten this spring. White has a PR six feet better than her sophomore year. More to come...
At the GMC Championships Azarae Hawkins won the 100 and the 200, Austin White won the shot put, and Caden Winship won the 1600 and the 3200. That's three Mason seniors nabbing five event titles at one conference meet.
Hawkins, who is committed to the University of Maryland, ran 11.67w in the 100 prelims at the GMC and won the final in 11.92. Her current 200m best of 24.15 is wind-legal and sits first in Ohio. She finished third at OHSAA D1 State in the 100 last June at 11.93. This spring she has not lost a final.
White has been to OHSAA D1 State in the shot put three years running. As a sophomore she threw 40-7.75 and finished third. As a junior she threw 41-11.75 and finished second. This spring her PR is 46-8, thrown at the Anderson Invitational, which puts her 2nd in Ohio.
Winship ran a 4:43 in the 1600 in 2024 then carved that down to 4:20.94 in 2025. This spring he ran a 1600 PR of 4:16.26 at the Mason Rod Russell Invitational, and clocked a 3200 best of 9:11.32 at the Wayne Invitational. He won both events at the GMC Championships. Tommy Chen runs alongside him, and ranks 6th in Ohio in the 3000m steeplechase at 10:51.91 from the Anderson Invitational, a mark that would have been hard to predict a year ago when he was running JV 800s. EJ Mwemena is 8th in Ohio in the triple jump at 35-5.5, run at the Wayne Invitational.
The depth around those five covers every event group. Dante Appolon (2026) is 10th in Ohio in the 100 at 10.64. Tori Killens (2026) is 11th in the state in the 400 at 56.43. Atalia Hawkins (2027) is 12th in Ohio in the mile at 5:07.82. Aldo Dokouzov (2028) is 13th in the state in the high jump at 6-7.25. Joey Corcoran (2027) is 39th in the shot put at 54-9.5. Andy Hutton (2027) throws the discus 163-0, 57th in Ohio. Owen Jurewicz (2026) pole vaults 14-3, 44th in the state. Hyksus Liu (2027) runs a 200 of 22.00, 51st in Ohio. Liana Kim (2029) is 48th in the 1600 at 5:07.13. Jackson Moellers (2026) is 15th in the 3000 steeplechase at 11:32.42.
The senior class built this across four years.
