The Bowling Green State University track and field team finished preparations for their upcoming conference championship meet by competing on Thursday and Friday (May 5-6) at the 2011 Toledo Invitational.

The two-day meet, being held for the 27th time, brought together over a dozen area teams, including Mid-American Conference foe Western Michigan.

After several consecutive weeks of competition, head coach Cami Paulson chose to rest several athletes in order to help them get ready for the MAC Championships beginning on Thursday in DeKalb, Ill.; however, that fact did not stop the Falcons from producing some stellar performances.

Allison Weimer won the 800 meter run, as she blazed to the finish line in 2:15.06.  She was followed by Saisha Gailliard (2:20.46), who placed ninth, as well as Kristin Miller.  Miller finished the run in 2:32.81.

Running unattached, Nicole Farr took third place in the 1500 meter run by registering a final time of 4:33.39.

Also placing in the top ten of their races were Alicia and Felicia JeffersonAlicia Jefferson (0:13.08) placed seventh in the 100 meter dash, while Felicia ran the 200 meters in 0:26.04 for eighth place.

Darlene Anderson, who competed in both track and field events at Toledo, placed sixth in the 100 meter hurdles after a run of 15.65 seconds.  Anderson tied for fifth in the long jump after a 5.17 meter leap.

Christina Gagliardo competed in the pole vault event, and she tied for third.  Her best vault was 2.95 meters (9-8.00).

In the throwing events, BGSU athletes participated in all but the shot put.  Jessie Rowland was the Falcons' best thrower in each event.  In the discus, Rowland set a personal record with a toss of 45.48 meters (149-2.50) and placed fifth.  She earned fourth place in the javelin with a 36.66 meters, then finished second in the hammer throw.  Her longest hammer toss traveled 52.52 meters (172-3.50).

Meanwhile, Tatijana Jacobson competed on Saturday (May 7) in Ann Arbor, Mich. at the Len Paddock Invitational.  Jacobson tied for second place in the high jump after a 1.68 meter (5-06.00) leap.

The  BGSU student-athletes now turn their attention to the 2011 MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.  The competition begins on Thursday, May 12th and continues through Saturday, May 14th.  A complete preview will be available early this week at BGSUFalcons.com.
