Rowland Finishes 26th In Hammer Throw At NCAA East Regional

Jessie Rowland represented the Bowling Green State University track and field team on Thursday afternoon (May 26) when she competed in the hammer throw competition at the 2011 NCAA Division I East Regional track and field meet.

Rowland qualified for the meet with a throw of 57.69 meters at the All-Ohio Championships in April.  On Thursday, her best throw (out of three attempts) traveled 54.13 meters (177-07).  The throw earned Rowland a seventh-place finish out of 16 athletes in her flight.  Overall, she placed 26th in a field of 47 athletes.

The top 12 athletes advanced to the NCAA championship meet in Des Moines, Iowa; the shortest qualifying distance was 58.30 meters.

Ashley Harris, the second of two Falcon athletes to compete this week in Bloomington, Ind., will compete on Friday afternoon in the shot put.
