Key'Shawn Garrett's 200m arc at Wayne tells the story on its own. He ran 22.96 as a sophomore at the Wayne Quint in March 2024. Junior year he ran 21.99 to finish second at the Cane Bay Invitational, then kept dropping - 21.20 at the Stingel Invite, 20.74 to win the Greater Western Ohio Conference Championship, 20.78 to finish second at OHSAA D1 Region 4. At the OHSAA D1 State Championships in 2025, he ran 20.91 to finish third. One year removed from 22.96, he was on the state podium.

Senior year the 200m specialist has been dominant from the first meet. Garrett ran 22.38 at the Wayne Quint, then 21.33 in the Beach Run Invitational prelims and 21.55 to win the Wayne Invitational. At the Greater Western Ohio Conference Championships, he ran 21.57 to win. Then at the OHSAA D1 Super Regional R4 in Huber Heights he ran 21.42 in prelims, 20.92 in the semis, and 20.98 to win the final. The 20.92 is the Ohio #1 outdoor 200m mark for 2026.

His 100m progression has followed the same line. Garrett ran 10.64 and 10.63 as a junior at the Wayne Quint and Stingel Invite respectively, with a 10.90 at the Warrior/Elk Dual. Senior year he has been between the 10.50s and 10.70s consistently. He ran 10.92 to win the Trotwood Invitational, 10.74 to win the Warrior/Elk Dual, and 10.56 to win the Greater Western Ohio Conference Championships. At the Super Regional in Huber Heights, he ran 10.77 in the prelims and won the final in 10.30 - the Ohio #1 outdoor mark in the event for 2026. He has won every 100m final he has entered this spring.
