Ohio Boys Cross Country Performer of the Week (Aug. 31-Sep. 6)

After another week of cross country racing in Ohio, it's time to vote for the MileSplit Ohio boys cross country performer of the week.

This Week's Nominees:

Matt Scipione, Solon (Ohio): At Ashland CC Invitational - HS Entry Only, covered the 5K in 16:07.10 to win the HS Entry Only race at the Ashland CC Invitational, topping a field of 290 finishers by 16.9 seconds. The clocking now ranks No. 11 of 1,349 athletes in MileSplit's database at Freer Field since 2021.

Luca Novakovic, CF Northwest (Ohio): A 5K time of 15:58.77 was enough to win the Brian Armstrong Northwest Cross Country Invitational by 22.3 seconds over a 125-runner field. That mark stands No. 3 of 355 athletes in MileSplit's database at Northwest High School since 2021, and it improved a prior showing on the same course by 42.4 seconds.

Calvin Heithaus, Mount Vernon (Ohio): A 5K time of 16:18.10 at the Highland Flying Scots Cross Country Invitational - HS produced a 78.6-second winning margin across 120 finishers. The performance is now the fastest in MileSplit's database at Highland HS Stadium since 2024, a group of 273 athletes, and it cut 36.1 seconds off an earlier time on the course.

Carson Spencer, Turpin (Ohio): A 5K effort of 16:14.60 at the Talawanda Brave Invitational (HS) separated from a 105-runner field by 39.2 seconds for the win. That time ranks No. 7 of 634 athletes in MileSplit's database at Talawanda HS Track since 2019.

Ethan Shultz, Big Walnut (Ohio): Winning the Circleville Kiwanis Invitational came down to 5.6 seconds, with a 15:54.10 clocking topping 200 finishers over 5K. The time sits No. 3 of 590 athletes in MileSplit's database at Circleville HS Track since 2020, improving a prior mark on the course by 50.4 seconds.
