BGSU Cross Country Competes at All-Ohio Championships on Friday

Thu, Sep, 29 | Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Bowling Green State University men's and women's cross country team will resume their 2011 seasons on Friday (Sept. 30) when they travel to Cedarville, Ohio for the annual All-Ohio Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships.

The event, to be held at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course in Cedarville, includes championship and open races for both men's and women's runners.

A total of 47 men's teams and 49 women's teams from colleges and universities throughout Ohio will take part in the meet.  Only Ohio State, Toledo and Youngstown State are not sending teams to compete.

The men's races are 8,000 meters (8K) and begin at 2:00 p.m. (championship) and 3:30 p.m. (open).  The women's races are 5,000 meters (5K).  They start at 2:45 p.m. (championship) and 4:15 p.m. (open).

The Falcons will send ten runners for the men's races.  Two others will run unattached.  The women's team will field six runners, with another six running unattached.

Falcons' head coach Lou Snelling said, "We are really starting to see the fitness develop at practice.  That has been our big goal for September.  The All-Ohio Championships will be our first opportunity to use that fitness in a race situation."

Snelling added, "We will be competing in the championship and open races because we are redshirting many athletes.  I'm eager to see how those in uniform and those running unattached will do in the races."

The current weather forecast calls for rain and wind, with wind chills in the 40s.

Complete details about the event can be found at the host website.  The site provides details about the races and the course, including maps and photo galleries of the course.

The website also includes records and event history, as well as fan information such as parking and concession details and driving directions.

Results will be available at BGSUFalcons.com on Friday evening after the conclusion of the meet.
