Falcons to Compete at NCAA Great Lakes Regional Tomorrow

Fri, Nov, 11 | Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Bowling Green State University men's and women's cross country teams face their final race of 2011 on Saturday (Nov. 12) when they travel to Toledo, Ohio for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.

The men's event is scheduled to begin at noon and will last 10,000 meters (10K).  The Falcons' seven-person team consists of Jason Salyer, Greg Black, Josh Franek, Perry Fraylick, Kevin Budge, Ryan Harrison, and Tom Hipwell

The women's race follows at 1:15 p.m., and the runners will traverse 6,000 meters (6K).  Six Falcons are slated to compete: Alixe Korsnack, Caitlin Lashbrook, Taylor Stichter, Saisha Gailliard, Kristin Miller, and Megen Rapp.

Falcons' head coach Lou Snelling said, "Jason has led the men throughout the season and has the opportunity to build on his solid performance at the MAC Championships.  As has been the case on the women's side this season, we will look to gain experience for future years."

As with the Mid-American Conference championship meet, the Falcons who are redshirting during the 2011 season will have their own opportunity to race on the BGSU campus (location to be determined).  A 3,000-meter race is scheduled for 4:15 p.m., with a mile run to follow.

Snelling expects those races to produce exciting individual results to end the season on.

Results and an event recap will be available on Saturday evening following the regional.
