-Best time in a 5K race and in which meet:

16:05 at the 2011 State Cross Country Championship Meet.

-Tell us how your summer training is going?

Summer is going well. I was fighting a stress fracture during the spring and finally got some time off after the state track meet. Now I'm building up my base mileage and my leg is feeling a lot better.

-What are your goals for the upcoming season?

I would like to run under 16:00 several times. I also want to have good performances at the Midwest Meet of Champions and the State Championship.

-How long have you been running and how did you get started?

I ran my first 5k in the 6th grade. It was a memorial run and it killed me, but I loved it, and I've been running ever since.

-Will you be competing anywhere out of state this season?

I am hoping and working for the opportunity to run for Team Ohio in the Mid East Cross Country Championship and plan to run at the Nike Cross Country Midwest Regional.

-What is your favorite course to run in Ohio?

My favorite course would have to be the one closest to home. It is at Meigs High School and I train on it often and have ran several small meets there. It is also the most challenging course I've ran, I consider myself lucky to have run under 18:00. The course winds through the woods, up and down hills, and is very rough and curvy. I like it because it reminds me of my home area.

-What is the toughest course to run in Ohio?

Another tough course I run is at Warren High School. The Scenic Hills Invitational is held there usually the first Saturday of September. It is composed of rolling hills, long inclines, and two fun creek crossings. Always a competive and fun race even though it is in no way a fast course.

-What meet during the regular season do you put extra emphasize on to compete well at?

The Midwest Meet of Champions. I think of it as "my race" when training. I feel it is a large and competive meet every year and past winners have competed well at the state and even national levels so I hope to have a good race there this fall.

-What is your favorite cross country race so far in your high school career?

The State Championship last fall was by far my best race. I ran hard, set a new personal best by 19 seconds, and competed with some great runners. Really looking forward to running against them this year also.

-Favorite cross country memory?

Last summer I had a close friend and track teammate pass away. On one of my long runs I took a medal I had won in the 800, which was his race, during track season out to him and dropped it off. I don't think I'll ever forget that run and I'm glad I won't.

-When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?

I like to do a little bit of everything. Mostly go down to the river to camp or swim, hangout with friends, bike, and work. I just like to keep busy.

-Favorite quote?

"The only good pace is a suicide pace, and today looks like a good day to die." -Steve Prefontaine

-What's on your Ipod when you go out for runs?

Long run songs! I like to get obsessed with a good song, get it on my phone, and then listen to it on repeat for a good long run. The songs are always random, some of the best are probably Rocket Man, Roll Up, Pursuit of Happiness, and Save Me San Francisco. Like I said, very random.

-What professional athlete would you most like to meet?

I would love to meet Lance Armstrong. I admire his drive and the fact that he started such a large organization to fight cancer. He's an athlete with great character and lots of heart.
