-Tell us how your summer training is going?

My summer training has been going very well! Although I've had to take a little break due to an incident of getting stitches in my foot, I've been building my miles up from last year, concentrating on staying healthy. Our team also does insanity some mornings of the week. SHAUN T!

-What are your goals for the upcoming season?

Since we were Runner-Ups last year at state, the goal is definitely to be State Champs this year...My team works really hard and we have a lot of good returners from last year. A personal goal I have is to continue to gain confidence and believe in myself a little more. I think a huge part of running is a lot of mental toughness.

-How long have you been running and how did you get started?

I started running a little around 6th grade. I didn't do much, but it kind of introduced me to the "running world." I decided I wanted to do Cross Country my 7th grade year and I've been running ever since.

-Will you be competing anywhere out of state this season?

Not that I'm aware of currently. I've always thought it'd be fun to run a race after the whole season is over, but it's kind of difficult to do that with playing basketball.

-What is your favorite course to run in Ohio?

Hmm...tough question. I really like the "scenic" courses and also the courses where there are lots of fans along the way. With this in mind, I'm going to have to go with the Greenville Treaty Invitational course.

-What is the toughest course to run in Ohio?

Probably the Wright State-Lake Campus course, which is Celina's home course. It's not a bad course by any means, it just seems to have a lot of pot holes.

-What meet during the regular season do you put extra emphasize on to compete well at?

The MAC (Midwest Athletic Conference) meet! This is the conference meet and our goal is always to place first as a team here. There seems to always be really good competition here.

-What is your favorite cross country race so far in your high school career?

Definitely the MAC meet last year! We have always been competing for a title and last year we finally earned MAC champs - both boys and girls. The whole team was so excited and coach gave us all big hugs after the race. We really came together as a team that race.

-Favorite cross country memory?

Haha, oh my. Probably the time all of the High School guys modeled off their wifebeaters on "Wifebeater Wednesday" in practice. Then again, there's the time our team mascot, Chuck the Panda, was the center of a big dance circle at the end of the meet in Greenville. He had some nice moves.

-When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?

I enjoy playing basketball, being outside, and going out with friends (and laughing if that counts.)

-Favorite quote?

"Why fit in when you were born to stand out?" -Dr. Seuss

-What's on your Ipod when you go out for runs?

My ipod is completely random. I'll listen to anything from pop to christian to rap to rock to acoustic.

-What professional athlete would you most like to meet?

Skylar Diggins! She's a great player, and does it with a humble sort of class.

[Editor's Note: Skylar Diggins plays on the Women's Basketball team at the University of Notre Dame]
