Toledo Rogers' alum Erik Kynard ('09) cleared 2.33m (7-7.5) to capture the Olympic Silver Medal at the 2012 London Games. The clearance of 2.33m is just one centimeter off of Kynard's personal record of 2.34m.
Russia's Ivan Ukhov cleared 2.38m (7-9.75) to take home the Gold Medal.
Kynard and Ukhov were tied at 2.33m. When the bar was raised to 2.36m (7-9), Kynard missed on his first attempt, while Ukhov cleared the height on his first attempt. Kynard had to pass to the next height to try to take the lead back, but unfortunately Kynard did not clear the next height of 2.38m (7-9.75), while Ukhov again cleared it on his first attempt. Kynard then passed to 2.40m (7-10.5) with one attempt left, and did not clear the height. This gave Ukhov the Gold medal and Kynard the Silver medal.
