40th Annual Ned Weingart Relays - Cleveland Heights High School Saturday April 6, 2024
Coaches,
Thank you for allowing Cleveland Heights to host your team at the 40th Annual Weingart Relays on April 6th. We have made a few adjustments and would like to make you aware of these in advance. Please accept our apologies and know that we are always looking to improve the racing experience for in the future.
If you have not yet registered in MileSplit: we placed a password to enter as we are nearing capacity. Please contact us at chuhcrosscountry@gmail.com with the name of your school and we will share the password as able. We had to cap our meet this year to keep the best racing experience for the runners. We will be discussing changes for next years Weingart Relays at the Coaches meeting.
SATURDAY April 6, 2024 Large School Weingart Relays
Start time: 9am-Field events begin; 9:30am Running events begin.
Coaches/Officials meeting will be held at 8:45 at the starting line
As you may have seen earlier, we were hoping to have a non-scored JV 1600 and 4x100 m relay to allow more runners to participate. However, we received a message from an official stating that this is not allowed, per the message below. We would like to apologize to all runners who were hoping to participate.
Non-Scored Events Prohibited
In line with OHSAA bylaws and the information provided on page 14 of the Ohio Track & Field Officials Manual, non-scored events are prohibited as the OHSAA prohibits exhibition competition for all sports. All events at all meets must be scored; no official, school, conference, meet, or DAB may set aside this rule. Further, officials are prohibited from officiating non-scored events. If an official is asked to officiate an unscored event, they should refuse to allow the event to take place and notify meet management of your obligation to notify the OHSAA via a game report. Following the meet, officials should file a game report notifying the OHSAA of the intent of the school. If the school holds the unscored event after the officials leave, the official should file a game report notifying the OHSAA of the actions. This includes meet management hosting events such as throwers relays or JV races that are non scored.
All Events : will have 2 participants per team/ 1 Relay per team There was an error in Mile Split allowing 3 participants automatically. This has been corrected manually last week.
***TEAMS must bring their own baton to meet
***Per OHSAA regulation the field will be roped off. Runners may warm up on the backside of the track or outside the visitor entrance. This area will be blocked by security for the runners to have room to warm up. Parents and non-participants should remain off the track area
