Day of registration begins at 11:00am at the SSU Track room which can be accessed between Rhodes Athletic Center and Waller Gymnasium from the West parking lot which Front Street dead ends to. Weight Room Training Camp is from 12:00 to 12:40pm at the Shawnee State Weight Room. Throwing camps start at 12:45pm at Spartan Municipal Stadium, Portsmouth Ohio 45662. Camp fee is $20.00. Please bring your throwing implements.
Shot Put Camp by John Pemberton
The Shot Put Camp will be conducted by former Tiffin University athlete and Tiffin University shot put record holder John Pemberton. John’s High School career had him reaching the top of the podium in Columbus where he was a State of Ohio Champion shot putter. John was also a football standout at Ironton High School. His college throwing career exploded when he traded in his college football cleats for Track & Field spin shoes and went on to be a two time NCAA National Qualifier in the Shot Put. He was also an Academic All American. John holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Tiffin University.
Weight Throw Camp by John Dyke
The Weight Throw Camp will be conducted by Waverly High School’s Throws Coach John Dyke. John is a former Waverly High School thrower. John is always involved promoting the throwing sport. Not only does he work with Waverly athletes, he often shares his expertise with throwers from other schools. John currently has a Waverly athlete, Dylan Dyke, sitting atop their Division standings on Milesplit at 71-10 in the weight throw. John attended the University of Cincinnati.
Discus Camp by Mack Tudor
The Discus Camp will be conducted by collegiate athlete Mack Tudor. Tudor is the current Ohio High School all division discus record holder at 206-04 and City of Cincinnati record holder in the shot put at 62-06. Tudor ended his Western Brown High School career as one of the most prolific throwers in Ohio's history with 11 state qualifications. He was honored as a Track & Field High School All American by Track & Field News and the Cincinnati Enquirer Track Athlete of the Year. Mack has trained with the best throwers in the world and has a wealth of throwing information to share. Mack is a current computer science major at Tiffin University.
Hammer Throw Camp by Josh Fishback
The Hammer Throw Camp will be conducted by former University of Cincinnati athlete Josh Fishback. Josh was a high school four year varsity letter winner in Football, Basketball, and Track & Field at Clermont Northeastern. His track career culminated with a state qualification and college track signing to extend his career with the Bearcats. He finished his throwing career as 11th all time at the University of Cincinnati. His passion is training athletic youth in the Cincinnati community. Josh has a Bachelors Degree from the University of Cincinnati in Accounting.
Weight Training Camp for Throwers by Todd Tudor
The Weight Training Camp for Throwers will be conducted by current Shawnee State’s throws coach Todd Tudor. Todd joined SSU after seven seasons at the Junior/Senior High School level at Western Brown where he had a state qualifier every year he coached. Todd’s high school throwing athletes enjoyed a dominance of southwestern Ohio by winning the district in the discus for six straight years. Todd will share his youth, junior high, and high school weight training plans so our camp participants can start training like a champion. He holds a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Shawnee State University.
Javelin (Long Tom Turbo 600g) Camp by Chris Perry
The Javelin Camp will be conducted by Empire Throwing owner Chris Perry. Since Chris left his throwing days at Muskingum University he has coached at the collegiate and high school levels for the past 9 years.. Additionally he trains individual athletes at Empire Throwing. He is the current throws coach at perinneal track & field powerhouse Centerville High School. He holds a coaching USATF Certification in Level 2 Throws and Jumps. He brings 15 years of experience to our clinic. Chris earned his Bachelors Degree in History Education from Muskingham College and a Masters in Sports Administration from California University of Pennsylvania.
