Geneva was the Region 1 Champion in 9:11.73 and set a new regional record. They have the fastest qualifying time of the Regions and are ranked D1 #1. They were 2nd last year in 9:04.77. The defending champions are Perrysburg. They won in 9"04.63 setting a new State Record. They have run 9:24.45 this season. They were 2nd in Region 2. OH #2 is Centerville. they were the Region 4 champions running 9:14.66 and set a new Regional Record. They have run 9:13.24. Only Granville is OH #3 with a 9:13.40. They were 3rd in Region 3 with a 9:16.48. close behind them is #4 and Regional 3 champion, Gahanna Lincoln. They ran 9:13.41 in winning the Region. #5 is Hilliard Davidson with a 9:15.78. They were 2nd in Region 3. The remaining team with a time under 9:20 is Brunswick with a 9:19.85. They are the Region 2 Champions. It's always an exciting race, but Geneva should pull this won out.

110m Hurdles

This should be a close race. OH #1 is Sr. Ayanna O'Neal of Withrow. She won Region 4 with a 14.24, but has run 14.04. D1 #2 is Jr. Aisha Jackson of Warren G. Harding. She is the region 1 Champion with a 14.24. #3 is Sr. Dara Perry of Firestone. She ran a 14.41 in Regionals and has run 14.35 this season. D1 #4 is Jr. Aysha Muhammad of Mentor. she was 2nd in Region 1 and has run 14.36 this season. D1 #5 is the Region 3 winner Jr. MiAngel Daniels of Gahanna Lincoln with a time of 14.59. O'Neal is fast, but she will need to be clean to win with everyone so close.

100m Dash

Interestingly, Four Freshman are in Heat 2. the fastest qualifier however is not a 9th grader, she is Jr. Justice Richardson of Warren G. Harding. She was 9th in 2014 with a 13.04 and has run 11.75 this year in winning Region 1. D1 #2 is a 9th grader. Fr. Abby Steiner of Dublin Coffman. She was 1st in Region 3 with a 12.32 but has run 11.92. She is the current OATCCC State Indoor champion in both the 60m and the 200m. So. Doneasha Brewer of Withrow is ranked #3 with an 11.94. She ran 12.50 in Region. D1 #4 is Fr. Raquel Jones of Twinsburg. she was 2nd in Region 1 with a 12.02. Steiner is still learning, but she proved herself indoors. She will have to go faster than she has run before to win and to beat Richardson. Richardson may be too fast this year.

4x200 Meter Relay

Only one team has gone under 1:40. Gahanna Lincoln was the Region 3 winner in a time of 1:39.59. They are D1 #1. #2 is Dublin Coffman who ran 2nd in Region 3 to Lincoln with a 1:40.32. Withrow ran 1:41.25 at Regionals but has run 1:40.57. The race always comes down to exchanges and the last 200, but Gahanna should win this one.

1600m Run

This race is full of 2014 returners. Forget the Regional qualifying times and the rankings. I don't think that Sr. Annie Heffernan of Ursuline Academy will be denied. She has run 4:49.47 and is the defending champion. Her challengers will be Sr. Lilly Saniel-Banrey of Hilliard Davidson who was 2nd in 2014 (4:56.69), Jr. Micaela DeGenero of Granville (4:58.60), Sr. Clair Wiles of Olentangy Liberty (4:59.16) and Jr. Haley Hess of Oregon Clay (4:59.96).

4x100 Meter Relay

Withrow has the fastest time from Regionals. A 46.99. They won Region 4 and set a new Regional Record. They have run 46.87. Three other teams have gone under 48. Warren G. Harding ran 47.74 in wining Region 1 and has run 47.53. The Region 3 winner was Gahanna Lincoln. they won in 48.10 but have run 47.75. Twinsburg was 2nd in Region 1 with a 47.88. These 4 should make it a very close competition.

400 Meter Dash

New Albany Sr. Karrington Winters is back. She won as a Freshman and and a sophomore and was out last year with an injury. She ran 54.68 in winning Region 3. Jr. Olivia Bechtel of Bay Village was 2nd in 2014. She comes out of Regionals with a 56.37, but ran 55.40 last year. Sr. Frances Bull of Lake Catholic was 3rd in 2014 with a 55.45. Sr. Taylor Darks of Walnut Hills ran 57.00 at Regionals and was 5th last year with a 55.81. This is Winters race to win and should give her 3rd D1 400 State Championship.

300 Meter Hurdles

Four girls have run under 44, including Sr. Grace Winckowski of Oregon Clay who ran 43.64 in winning Region 2. She was 8th in 2014 with a 45.39. The Region 4 winner was Sr. Sydney Hill of Lakota West. She ran 43.99. The Region 3 winner was Sr. Kara Robinson of Watkins Memorial She won with a time of 43.90. The other girl under 44 is Sr. Gabby Maslowski of Brunswick. She was 2nd in Region 2 with a 43.70. These four girls should go at it and it is too close to call.

800 Meter Run

Five girls ran last year, including last years runner up Sr. Alexa Jennings of Centerville. She ran 2:09.73. The fastest qualifier Jr. Rachel Banks of Chardon who won Region 1 with a 2:09.25. Sr. Rachel Kotchman of Brecksville-Broadview Hts. was 5th last year in 2:11.77 and has run 2:12.38 to qualify. So.Mary Figler of Walsh Jesuit has run 2:12.96. This is a tough one to call, but Jennings and Banks will have to fight off Aveni. If it's slow Aveni has the speed to win.

200 Meter Dash

No one returns from last years finals. All of the qualifiers are close. The fastest is Region 1 winner Jr. Mischa Sellers of Willoughby South with a 24.23. She is D1 #2. D1 #1 is Fr. Abby Steiner of Dublin Coffman. She ran 24.86 to win Region 3, but has run 24.11. #3 is region 1 runner up, Jr.Emmarie Foote of Twinsburg. Foote ran 24.44. So. Steiner will be on the big stage in the 100 and the 200 for the first time, but she handled it indoors and if she wins the 100, could win the double outdoors.
