4x800 Meter Relay

The boys 4x800 is always exciting featuring some of the best distance runners in the State. This year will be no exception although I do not expect to see a new D1 record. The #1 Regional qualifying time was by St. Ignatius. They won Region 2 with a time of 7:51.12. The #2 OH ranking goes to the Region 2 2nd place finisher Toledo St. Johns with a time of 7:53.36. The number three time is 7:53.42 by the Region 3 winner Dublin Coffman. The #4 ranked team is Hilliard Davidson. They ran 7:59.54 in Regionals, but have run 7:55.31. Ranked #5 is the region 4 winner, Greenvile who ran 7:55.44. The other 11 teams are separated by just 4.47 seconds. This should be a close race and will come down to the last 100 to see who gets on the podium.

110m Hurdles

Sr. Richard Floyd of Strongsville has the fastes qualifying time and is the only runner under 14:00. He was 4th last year in 14,24 and ran an OH #2 13.89 in winning Regional 2 effort. The next fastest qualifier is Region 3 winner, Sr. Ashton Dulin of Reynoldsburg. Dulin won Region 3 in 14.21. Sr. Brad Cherkes of Madison has run 14.25. Sr. Caleb Samol of Berea-Midpark is ranked OH #5 with a 14.12. He was 2nd in Region 2 with a 14.28. Only 1.14 seconds separates all of the qualifiers. The finals should be close, but Floyd has to be the favorite.

100m Dash

1600m Run

Michael Vitucci of St. Xavier ran 4:07.96 last year in one of the fastest 1600s in Ohio history. It may not be that fast this year, but it just may take a sub 4:10 time to win. Only 3 qualifiers come in with times over 4:20. Hilliard Davidson Sr. Colin Burdette comes in with an OH #3 time of 4:12.94. He ran 4:14.29 at Regionals. Right behind him is Hudson Jr. Gavin Gaynor who ran 4:15.74 at Regionals but is ranked OH #5 with a 4:13.62. Gaynor was 15th last year in 4:23.22. Jr. Luke Wagner of St. Ignatius ran 4:15 at Regionals. Is is OH #6 with a 4:13.64. He was 5th last year witha 4:14.06. Dublin Coffman Sr. Zach Bons was 2nd in Regionals with a 4:15.43. Andre Bollan-Godbott of Brunswick. He was 12 last year in 4:19.78 and has run 4:17.71 this season. Expect a tightly packed race until about 500 to go. I expect Wagner, Burdette and Gaynor to fight the last 200 for the win.

4x100 Meter Relay

This race is too close to call. Only one team has run under 42 and that is Region 4 winner Northwest who ran 41.76. Excluding the, the remaining 15 teams are separated by just 1.17 seconds. The second fastest time is held by Winton Woods with a 42.04. Region 4 winner Wayne is just behind them with a 42.05. The Region 3 winner, Reynoldsburg has run a 42.32. Last years winner, Glenville, won with a time of 41.47. They ran 42.5 at Regionals. I'll go with Northwest, but as usual, it is an exciting race with little room for error and the exchanges can win the race with the teams this close.

400 Meter Dash

3200 Meter Run

Several individuals are doubling in the 1600. Depending on their runs in the 1600 may have an impact on their performances in the 3200. Disregard the Regional qualifying times.
