-Tell us how your summer training is going?:

It is going great! After track, I took about a 2 week break from running. Now I am building my base up and increasing my mileage about 10% from my last year summer season. I also began lifting free weights 2-3 times a week.

-What are your goals for the upcoming season?:

The number one goal is to have fun! Being an upper classman now, I also hope to set a good example for the younger athletes and make sure they're having fun too. As far as times or placing goes, I would definitely like to break my PR from last year and hopefully have a good showing at State again this year along with the team. We're excited!!

-How long have you been running and how did you get started?:

The first 5k I've ever ran was the summer before my fifth grade year. I didn't train for it at all, walked a lot of it, and was dead at the end. I didn't start taking mini runs until I was in the sixth grade when I decided I'd want to run cross country my seventh grade year. From there I just kept working hard and doing what I could with what I was given, and I've never stopped running.

-Will you be competing anywhere out of state this season?:

As far as during the regular cross country season, no. After season, I've always kind of wanted to run NXN or Footlocker, but I play basketball too, so it never really worked out. I'll see where this season takes me.

-What is your favorite course to run in Ohio?:

Our home course! After training on it throughout the past seasons, I feel like I know it inside and out. There are also a lot of familiar fans when we have a meet there, which makes it all the more fun to run.

-What is the toughest course to run in Ohio?:

Ummm Wright State Lake Campus's course. I don't really have a reason for this though!

-What meet during the regular season do you put extra emphasize on to compete well at?:

Definitely the MAC (Midwest Athletic Conference) meet. There is always great competition among the teams here, and it's the last race together as a full team before post season. (I love this meet.)

-What is your favorite cross country race so far in your high school career?:

I'm going to have to say State last year because we thought we got fourth as a team and in reality we were all kind of bummed because we had higher expectations. However, we ended up getting second which caught us off guard, and we were pumped.

-Favorite cross country memory?:

Trick or Treating at Tiffin.............

-When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?:

Go to the gym to shoot, hang with my friends and family, laugh, sing in the shower, eat, dance, ...and be merry?

-Favorite quote?:

"Never let success get to your head and never let failure get to your heart." or "If God is all you have, then you have all you need."

-What shoes do you train in?:

Asics GT 2170

-What shoes do you race in?:

Asics spikes (when I don't lose them..ha)

-What's on your Ipod when you go out for runs?:

Literally anything besides hard metal.

-What professional athlete would you most like to meet?:

Jordan Hasay because I follow her on Twitter and she seems to have a bright, outgoing, down to earth personality.

-What is something that most people don't know about you?:

I play AAU basketball during the spring along with track, I am not flexible at all, I can do a handstand for a long time, and a lot of people call me "Jay" or "Bear."
