2013 OHSAA State Cross Country Championships:  D2 2nd  Place (16:10.67)

 

Chagrin Fall's Jr. Joe Bistritz is the leading D2 boy's returner.  He was 2nd in last year's State meet with a time of 16:10.67. He followed that up with a 2nd place in the State D2 1600, running 4:18.80.  As a 9th greater, he ran 56th in the 2012 State XC meet (18:49.87).

 

Best time in a 5K race and in which meet?

My best time in a 5k so far is 16:09 at the CVC meet.

 

Tell us how your summer training is going?

My summer training is going well, getting ready for another great xc season.

 

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

My goals for this season are to win every meet I compete at.

 

How long have you been running and how did you get started?

I started running in 7th grade simply because I didn't play a fall sport beforehand and I thought hey I'll give this a try. Also my sisters had done track and xc which influenced me as well.

 

Will you be competing anywhere out of state this season?

Yes, we will be competing up in Michigan during the season. I believe for just one meet though.

 

What is your favorite course to run in Ohio?

My favorite course to run would have to be the state course. It's fast. It's loaded with adrenaline in the first mile and the weather there is always just right.

 

What is the toughest course to run in Ohio?

The toughest course to run at would be our regional meet, simply because there's always great competition and every team is gunning for a top 4 spot to make it to the state meet.

 

What meet during the regular season do you put extra emphasize on to compete well at?  All the meets I emphasize competing well at but one that sticks out is the Berkshire because it is the first meet of the season and one to set an impression on for all the other runners out there.

 

What is your favorite cross country race so far in your high school career?

Last year’s district meet in which I was the individual champion and our team was named district champions.

 

Favorite cross country memory?

My favorite cross country memory was at the regional meet last year when one of my teammates messed up our pregame chants. That really calmed all of the nerves anyone had.

 

When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?

My favorite thing to do when I'm not running is hanging with friends and playing basketball.

What shoes do you train in?

I train in the Nike Pegasus +30.

 

What shoes do you race in?

I've raced in Mizunos in the past but this year i think I'm gonna switch it up.

 

What's on your Ipod when you go out for runs?

 “Get Jiggy with It” by will smith.

 

What professional athlete would you most like to meet?

I'd really like to have met Steve Prefontaine. His way of running is something I'd like to model this upcoming season.
