Bluegrass Invitational HS Recap: Baugh 15:22, Reinhart 18:44 on a True 5K Course

In only its second year of existence, the Bluegrass Cross Country invitational has already earned a reputation. Notable for fast times, strong competition, and hotly debated validity (more on that in a minute) this was a meet I’ve had on my coverage radar for some time. Last year’s meet saw a battle down to the wire between John Spencer of Lafayette and Eric Baugh of Villa Madonna with both PRing in the mid-to-low 15’s. This year was hoping to produce more of the same, adding several more to the “sub-16” club. To ensure legitimacy of the course Coach Hawboldt of Tates Creek confirmed that no less than 3 separate entities measured the course: The University of Kentucky, Lindburgh High School (St. Louis MO), and himself. Each gave measurements within 1% accuracy of 5000m.

Week 3 is here with Briarwood and Slippery Rock highligting the meets within the state. We will also have PA representation in Ohio and New Jersey!

Boardman Spartan Invitational Preview

NE Ohio will see some of Ohio's and Pennsylvania's top High School Cross Country runners saturday in the Boardman Spartan Invitational. Highlighting the individual runs will be Jr. Madeleine Davison of North Allegheny. She is the defending champion in the Girl's D1 division and is the #1 ranked girl in PA with a 17:32.90 to her credit this year. On the boys side, North Allegheny also has the #2 ranked PA boy. Matt McGoey who has run 15:27.30. He was 8th last year (16:00.20). However, Hudson Sr. Kyle Mau returns. Mau was 5th last year in 15:39.10 and is the leading D1 returner in Ohio, placing 3rd in the D1 race last November. The team races will also be exciting and feature other Ohio and Pennsylvania ranked runners and teams. OhioMileSplit will be covering the event and doing video interviews of the winners and recapping the day.

Belf leads Birmingham Seaholm to commanding win at Michigan State

Audrey Belf has shown her dominance in this young season. She captured another win on Friday with a 17:32 performance at the Michigan State Playmakers Invite and was happily greeted by her teammate just over 20 seconds later as Rachel Dadamio (17:54) of Birmingham Seaholm finishes with the 1-2 punch. The US #17 girls took home the team victory by a margin of more than 80 points.

Meets on Tap for 9/13 Weekend

With extremely hot weather lately in landlocked Austin, B Miles and Jimmy begin to start wishing they lived closer to water to cool off as they look at the top national meets on tap located around some of the greatest bodies of water in the United States.
