Centerville's Lainey Studebaker at the finish of last nights Saturday Night Lights at Centerville.
We had to wait until 9:15 at night for the Girl's divisional showdown between the #1 ranked D1, D2 and D3 girls teams in the State and a girl's Varsity race that featured the top 4 girls in the State. It was worth the wait. At the two mile, Lexington Sr. Dominique Clairmonte, the #1 ranked girl in the State was just a couple of meters ahead of a group of girls, including India Johnson of Hilliard Davidson, Morgan Gigandet of Troy, Carly Davis of Dublin Jerome and Abby Nichols of Alter. Through the 3rd mile in the field, the lead was exchanged several times and coming off the hill with about 500m to go, Lainey Studebaker started to push. She took the lead and Clairmonte and the other girls followed. On the track the last 300m, Studebaker held off Clairmonte through the finish. The top six girls in the race all broke 18:00 with Studebaker setting a new course record of 17:33.36.
