2015 CROSS COUNTRY
Centerville Freshman, Grace Kilroy, started off her HS career with a win in the D1 Girl's race at the OHSAA Early Season Invitational. She was one of the five scorers for Centerville all season, including below -
Kilroy led the team at the NXN Nationals, running 60th.
Lakota East Sophomore Dustin Horter gave us a blog all season as well as having a great sophomore season. On the track as a Freshman, he was 5th in the D1 3,200 at State and was ranked the US #1 Freshman. In Cross Country, he ran 3rd in the D1 race and 11th at NXN Midwest earning a US #6 as a Sophomore.
St. Thomas Aquinas Sr. Athena Welsh repeated as the D3 State champion, leading Aquinas to the Team championship.
Maplewood Sr. Tristan Dahmen repeated as the boys D3 Champion, leading his Maplewood team to Back-Back Team titles.
Alter Sr. Abby Nichols won the girls D2 race, edging out a fast closing Mary Kate Vaughn of Oakwood.
Chagrin Falls Sr. Joe Bistritz repeated as the D2 Boys State Champion.
Centerville Sr. Lainey Studebaker has had a great HS career. In Cross, she repeated as the D1 Girls State Champion leading her Centerville team to their repeat Team Title.
Watkins Memorial Sr. Andrew Jordan was voted the Ohio MileSplit Male Athlete of the year. In Cross Country he ran undefeated in Ohio, setting a new National Trails Course Record. He was 4th at Footlocker Regionals and 6th at Footlocker Nationals. His 14:44.70 is the Ohio All Time XC 5K record and earned him a US #6 ranking.
The Centerville Girls being introduced at NXN Nationals. The girls won the D1 State title and the NXN Midwest Team Title. They would finish 11th at NXN Nationals. Sr. Lainey Studebaker, Sr. Taylor Malchow, So. Kelli Walsh and Fr. Grace Kilroy, Allison Fick, Savannah Lowe and Rachel Whithead.
Andrew Jordan capped off his High School Cross Country career with a 6th place finish at the Footlocker National establishing himself as one of Ohio's All-Time great High School Cross Country runners.
