71-4.5! 72-8.75 Jordan Geist of Noch, PA leads the nation in the Shot Put. He set the US#1 last weekend at Youngstown State. He bested it last night throwing 72-8.75, a new US #3 All-Time! He headlines the boys Shot Put this weekend at the Milesplit Scholastic Showcase.
This year, MileSplit is hosting the MileSplit Scholastic Showcase @ Spire. The meet is growing rapidly and has become one of the Midwest's premier Indoor invitational drawing athletes not only from Ohio, but this year from MI, PA, IN, NY, WV, FL, MN, WI, DC and Canada. Boys
The boy's meet is showcased by perhaps the best Weight Throw competition in the US featuring US #3-7 and #9. Nick Lane of BGSU comes in with the #3 throw of 75-11. He is followed by Lancaster's Nik Curtis (75-4.75), Medina's Jake wickey (74-6.25), Austintown Fitch's Logan Kusky (72-10), Knoch, PA's Jordan Geist (72-8) and Austintown Fitch's Brent Fairbanks (70-7).
Another featured event is the boy's Shot Put lead by US #1's Jordan Geist of Knoch, PA. Geist comes to Ohio often and last week threw 71-4.5 at Youngstown State. He bested it last night throwing 72-8.75, a new US #3 All-Time! US #5, 6 and 10 are also entered: Nik Curtis of Lancaster (63-0), Ben Peterson of Solon (62-11.5) and Hickory (PA)'s Evan Blair (59-10).

60m
Five boys come in with times under 7.0, lead by Justin Becker of Ft. Wayne Carroll (IN) with a 6.89 and Daniel Miles of Motor City Track Club who has also run 6.89. Evan McClelland of Park City (MN) has run 6.97. OH #7, Zion Cross of Lorain leads the Ohio boys with a time of 6.99 this season.
60mH
The 60H should be a close one with Northwest Cincinatti's Malik Beverly leading the Ohio runners with an OH #2 8.10. Bijay Stephens of Ft. Wayne Northrup (IN) comes in with an 8.18. Jace Roundtree of Kiski Area (PA) comes in with an 8.25, Hoover's Matt Peare is OH #5 with an 8.27 and Montpelier's Dylan Snyder is OH #6 with an 8.28.
200m
OH #1, Lorains Zion Cross comes in with a 22.29 nd Twinsburg's Justin Kimble is OH #5 with a 22.71, but they will have their hands full with four runners coming in with times under 22. Archbisop Carroll (DC) has a time of 20.55, Ohio's Asa Burke of East Columus (Unattached) comes in with a 21.49, Willis teamate Stedman Cook has run 21.81 and The Michigan All Stars Zaqwon Powell has run 21.94.
400m
One thing is certain the boy's 400. On the 300m track at Spire, the winner just may have to go under 48 to win. Ten boys come in with times under 50 led by Maxwell Willis of Archbishop Carroll (DC) (48.34), Zaqwon Powell of the Michigan All Stars (48.73) and Oak Creek (WI)'s Caleb Ogden (48.75). OH #2 Devahn Jackson of Pickerington Central comes in with a 49.45. Jackson's teammate, Terry Simuel is OH #4 with a 49.81. Two others to watch for are Watkins Memorials Desmond Melson who has run 48.36 and Sylvania Southviews Frank Hayes who has run an OH #8 50.49 this season, but is the defending D1 State 800m champion with a 1:51. He ran a 1:54 last weekend.
800m
With Frank Hayes going in the 400, the #1 seed in the 800 is Dominic Peretta of Beaver Falls (PA). Peretta ran a 1:54.14, US #9, last week at Youngstown State and is the PA defending outdoor State 800m champion. It should be fast with Peretta leading the way for the 16 others that come in with times unders 2:00.
1600M
OH #1 and US #10 Joe Bistritz of Chagrin Falls leads of 1,600 field that one expects to push 4:10. Bistritz has run 4:16.37 this indoor season. OH#2 is Nick Gannon of University School. Gannon is under 4:20 this indoor season with a 4:19.16. Hudson's Gavin Gaynor is OH #4 with a 4:23.61, but has 4:12.16 in winning the D1 boys OHSAA D1 1600m in 2015. Others to watch for are: Danny Cohen of Solon who has run 4:14.60, Andrew Shepherd of Laurel Creek T&F Club who has run 4:17.5 and Steve Neumaier of Lancaster NY, who has run 4:13.31 outdoors. Of the 25 entered, the lowest seed was around 4:26.00.

Watkins Memorial's Andrew Jordan makes his indoor debut in the 3,200. Last week he ran indoor for the first time after his 6th place in the Footlocker Nationals in Cross Country, running an OH #3 1,600 of 4:22.87. Jp Trojan of University School has in OH #2 at this time with a 9:26.93 and Bradley Davis of Dublin Jerome is OH #3 with a 9:30.09. To get in the Top 5 in this race you will have to be under 9:30.
Pole Vault
Hoover's Matt Peare comes in with a 16-0.75 vault that is tied for OH #1 and US #9. Closet to him is Logan Konst of Anna who is OH #3 with a vault of 15-6.
4x400m
This should be a good one with US #1 and @ battling each other. US #1 Pickerington Central has a nation leading time of 3:18.99. US #2 Archbishop Carroll of (DC) has a time of 3:18.71. Will it take a sub-3:15 to win?
