Dustin Horter - 1600m Performance Spotlight

Dustin Horter ran a 4:07.52 to establish a new Ohio #1 time in the 1600m distance.

MileSplit Ohio would like to congratulate Dustin Horter of Lakota East High School for his tremendous performance in the 1600m race at the Greater Miami Conference Championships on Friday, May 12th.

Dustin Horter won the 1600m race by 11 seconds in an incredible time of 4:07.52.  This result represents an Ohio #1, a U.S. #4, a Lakota East High School record and a new P.R.  Additionally, this is the top 1600m time by a junior (2018 graduate) in the country during the 2017 outdoor season and it is also a Greater Miami Conference record!

Below is Dustin's description of the race:

I had a lot of fun running GMC's this week.  The weather was absolutely perfect: 65 degrees with little to no wind.  My coach and I originally planned to shoot for 4:05, but we were very satisfied when I came through 800m at around 2:02.  I wouldn't exactly say I was on fresh legs for this meet but everything is clicking at the right time and going into the post season, I feel like looking up at that clock and seeing 4:07.52 serves as great momentum.

Lakota East's Dustin Horter hopes to continue to lower his 1600m time this season.

Dustin Horter feels like he's starting to peak  and he's hoping to finish the season strong.
