Case Western University Open HS Meet #1 - Complete Results
If Mahagony Jones' (Cleveland Rhodes) New Years' resolution was to win every race she entered, she is off to a good start. Jones won both races she enterd by winning the 55m dash with a time of 7.27 and the 400m in a time of 1:02.75.
Candice Longino-Thomas (Gilmour Academy) also started off on the right foot by winning the 200m (25.93) by nearly two seconds over the competition, and placing second to Jones in 7.32 in the 55m.
Bekka Simko of Gilmour Academy popped off a 2:26.66 to roll to an easy victory in the 800m.
Double event winners were plentiful on the boys side. Collinwood's Ricardo Solomon captured a sprint double, winning both the 55m and the 200m. Solomon went 6.62 in the 55m dash and 23.43 in the 200m.
The jumping double went to St. Ed's Ryan Lockyer, who cleared 6-4 in the High Jump and soared 20-11.5 in the Long Jump.
The throws also had a double winner with Dustin Brode. Brode won the Shot with a toss of 54-8 and the 25lbs. Weight Throw with a heave of 52-7.

Collinwood, Collinwood Collinwood. Collinwood opened their season with a bang by sweeping the sprints and sprint relays, including taking the top three spots in the 55m dash and the top two spots in the 200m. Shannon Willis and Amber Smith both ran a 7.50 in the 55m dash, with Willis coming out just slightly ahead. In the 200m Willis and Smith switched spots, with Smith coming out on top in a time of 26.59 to Willis' 27.14. And in the 400m, Amirah Harbour captured first place with a 60.57.
Collinwood continued to role in the jumps. Erin Busbee (Collinwood) jumped a US #4 mark of 18-8.5 to take home the gold in the Long Jump, and also captured another first place victory by clearing 5-2 in the High Jump.
In the throws, Anna Knapski of Canton South won the 20lbs. Weight Throw with a heave of 41-4.
On the guys side the sprints belonged to Wayne's Demoye Bogle. Bogle won the 55m dash with a time of 6.56 and the 200m in a time of 23.08.
In his first ever high school meet, junior, Terrence Talbott (Wayne) won the Long Jump with a leap of 21'9.
DJ Duke of River opened his season by winning the Shot Put with a throw of 54-3. While in the weight throw a nice competition unfolded between Wayne's Ryan Bitsko and Meadowbrook's Ethan Reese. Reese wound up winning the weight throw with a toss of 50-5.5 to Bitsko's throw of 50-4. Bitsko had a chance to take the lead in the final round, but his throw clipped the cage and was redirected.
In the Pole Vault, three individuals cleared 14-0, Tyler Cox, Nathan Milton, and East Canton's Cody Marshall.
