Week In Review: Ohioans at the Pan American Junior Championship

Men's Decathlon - Gray Horn - Waynsfield-Goshen Alum

Horn, who scored 6982 points, finished second to fellow American Curtis Beach, who scored 7377.  Horn did win the Long Jump and the 110 Hurdles, while also tying Beach for first in the Pole Vault.  Horn also had two second place finishes in the 100m Dash and the High Jump, while finishing third in the Discus.

 

Women's 10K Race Walk - Allison Chin - Tippecanoe

Chin finished fifth in the opening event of the Pan American Junior games in a time of 55:55.40.  Chin will be a senior this upcoming season for Tippecanoe.

 

Women's 100m Hurdles - Raven Clay - U. of Findlay

Clay captured a bronze medal by running the 100m Hurdles in a personal best time of 13.44.

 

Women's Discus - Erin Pendleton - Woodmore Alum

Recent Woodmore grad and to-be Michigan Wolverine also won a bronze medal in Trinadad by throwing the discus 157-6.

 

Men's Hammer Throw - Justin Welch - Eastwood

Eastwood senior-to-be Justin Welch was yet another Ohioan to come home with a bronze medal.  Welch's 223-10 toss of the 6k Hammer is a personal record with that size of implement.

 

Men's High Jump - Erik Kynard - Rogers Alum

Kynard, a recent Rogers graduate and soon to be freshman at Kansas State University finished tied for second by being clean over the bars all the way to 6-10.75.  Kynard then passed at the next height and then missed all of his attempts at 7-1.75.
