Alex Phillip continued his strong start to the cross country season, as he posted his second top 5 finish in as many meets. Last weekend, Phillip placed fourth at the OHSAA Early Season Invitational with his time of 16:39.30. His latest performance was a race win at the GlenOak Golden Eagle Invitational. Phillip secured first place due to his Ohio No. 26 time of 16:25.34. This was Phillip's first individual race win since the District - Malone University meet during his sophomore campaign.
Led by Phillip, St. Vincent-St. Mary won the DII/DIII team competition by recording 38 points. His teammates Colin Scahill (6th place - 17:22.34) and Chase Powers (8th place - 17:34.33) also had quality showings.
Phillip indicated post-race that his season goals include attaining a top 5 placement at the State Championship and lowering his pr, which is currently 16:00.56, to 15:45.
