Simon Heys and Morgan Walsh scored emphatic wins at Saturday's Finish Timing XC Classic which was hosted by Wilmington College.
Heys posted an Ohio No. 21 time of 16:19.70 on route to his first place finish. The Wilmington senior showed a dramatic improvement from his 2018 debut the weekend prior where he ran 17:06.20 for seventh place in the DII contest at the OHSAA Early Season Invitational.
Heys was eleven seconds ahead of the race's runner-up and he just missed achieving a new pr. His personal best is 16:19.35 from the Regional Troy meet during his junior year.
Morgan Walsh took a 39 second win at the Finish Timing XC Classic.
Morgan Walsh secured the win due to her Ohio No. 24 time of 19:12.30. Similar to Heys, Walsh made a big jump from her season opening result at the Early Invite. In Hebron, Walsh ran 19:56.60 for sixteenth place in the Division I race.
The West Clermont senior worked by herself up front to earn the first race win of her high school career. Walsh is a two-time State Championship qualifier and owns a pr of 18:49.00.
