Sarah Lane is one of eighteen athletes state-wide who returns with a sub 1 minute 400m performance on their resume from the 2018 indoor season. Now a senior, Lane accomplished the feat at the NEOITC All-Star meet where she clocked 59.74 for third place during the combined Buckeye and Erie gathering. The league has since expanded to add a third division which is set for action in 2019.
400m prowess runs in the Lane family, as Sarah's older sister Emma, a 2017 Mentor graduate and a current member of the Michigan Wolverines, took second place at the Division I Indoor State Championship during her senior year with a time of 55.60.
