(Savannah Dennison discussed her middle school XC State Championship win with MileSplit)
Following introductory meets involving the Red and White Divisions last week, this evening the athletes and teams that make up the Blue Division will open their NEOITC Series schedule.
One of the many athletes to look out for will be 8th-grader, Savannah Dennison. Dennison is well known in the Northeast Ohio area as a champion cross country runner and an avid road racer. She has also competed at high school indoor track meets during the last few years under the guidance of her dad, and Mentor coach, Bill.
Dennison is set to line-up in the 800m and 1600m contests - she'll have a tough test particularly in the 1600, as Solon senior (and former outdoor state champion) Olivia Howell is also on the list of scheduled participants. According to Coach Dennison, "Savannah is looking to gauge her fitness and get some more racing experience under her belt." "She completed a 2 mile threshold run two weeks ago (solo) and clocked 11:43," said Dennison. She's intending to compete in the 3200m event at next week's YSU high school series meet, as well.
