Neczypor had a fantastic sophomore campaign, going undefeated through the regular season while winning at big meets like Tiffin, Malone, and Wadsworth. Neczypor also won her district, finished third in her region and then third overall at the state meet, less than a second behind the state runner up (and #2 returning runner in this list, Michelle Thomas). Neczypor then went on to finish second at the Nike Midwest Regional meet and 23rd overall at the Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon. Neczypor also had a terrific track season, winning the Indoor state meet in the 1600m run by running sub 5:00 minutes, and then winning the 3200m in the Outdoor state meet with a personal record time of 10:39. Neczypor then finished her track season by placing 9th at the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Thomas won a total of seven meets last year, including Brian Plasman, Jim Neu, Tiffin (varsity B race), Georgetown, Harrison, her conference meet and her rerional meet (where she beat state champion Brooklyne Ridder). Thomas' four defeats all came at the hands of Ridder, but in every one of those showdowns, Thomas finished right behind Ridder. Thomas also had an impressive track season, winning the 3200m run at the Indoor state meet, and then finishing third in both the 1600m and the 3200m at the Outdoor state meet. This year's state race looks to between Thomas and Neczypor, and if the past is any indication, Thomas, who has beaten Neczypor by one place in each of the last two Cross Country state meets, has the upper hand in this battle.

Chambers is the top returning girl in the 2010 (senior) class. Chambers also had an impressive 2008 Cross Country season, one in which saw her capture two first place finishes (All-Ohio Catholic, Boardman/GlenOak region), four runner-up finishes (Avon Lake, Midwest Meet of Champions, Medina and her district meet), a third place finish at Tiffin and then a fifth place finish at the state meet. Following the state Cross Country meet, Chambers also lead her team to the Nike Cross Nationals by finishing in 8th place at the Nike Midwest meet and then finishing 18th overall in Portland, Oregon. Chambers will look to break into the elusive sub 18 club this season and will have a great chance to do so if her track season is any indication. Chambers proved that she has top end speed as she finished second at the Indoor state meet in the 1600m run. During the Outdoor season Chambers won the 1600m run at the state meet by going sub 4:50 and then finished fifth in the 800m run by running sub 2:15.

Williams started the season off with a bang by winning both the Summit County meet and the Boardman meet. Throughout the rest of the season Willams continued to finish in the top five in all of her meets up until the state meet, even winning her conference meet and her regional meet. Williams then finished eighth at the Cross Country state meet. Williams Outdoor track and field season was also littered with top five finishes throughout the regular season in the 1600m run and the 800m. Willams also qualified for the Outdoor state meet in the 1600m.

In 2007, Stillwell finished in 25th place at the Cross Country state meet, this past season, in 2008, she finished in 6th place. Stillwell is going to be in contention to place high on the podium this year, no doubt about it. During her 2008 Cross Country campaign, Stillwell claimed victories at Necomerstown, the Colt Carnival, her league and her district meets, while finishing in the top five in all other meets that she competed in, except for the state meet where she finished 6th.

Magnificat has made the Cross Country state meet since 2003, and has steadily climbed all the way to the top by winning the 2008 Cross Country state meet with a low score of only 68 points. Throughout the season, Magnificat performed very well, winning big meets such as Tiffin, Midwest Meet of Champions and even putting down a perfect score of 15 at the All-Ohio Catholic Championship. After the Ohio season, Magnificat went on to finish second at the Nike Midwest Meet and 16th overall at Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon. Last year The Harrier ranked Magnificat as high as 17th in the national rankings, but this year Magnificat is ranked 12th in the nation in the preseason rankings. Magnificat will have a great shot at defending their state championship title come November. And just to top off all of the great afforementioned facts, Magnificat returns all seven runners from last years Cross Country state meet.

The team from North Canton will look to add to their three year streak of qualifying to run at Scioto Downs in November. Hoover, last year's runner up, return all seven runners from last year's Cross Country state meet. Hoover is one of only two teams in Division 1 to return seven girls that have run sub 20 last season, the other being the number 3 returning team, Upper Arlington. Hoover is up for a challenge to catch Magnificat, and in order to do so they will have to have a tight pack of runners within about 30-40 seconds of their ace, Allison Peare.

Upper Arlington returns six of their seven runners from last years 4th place team, losing their number four runner to graduation. Besides Hoover, UA is the only other team in Division 1 to return seven girls that have all run sub 20 last year. UA also is the only other team besides Magnificat to return three girls that have run sub 19. This team is loaded with veterans, as everyone in their top ten are either juniors or seniors. In order for UA to have a shot at making the podium they will need for their 4 and 5 runners drop into the 19:00-19:15 range.

Thomas Worthington had a rough Regional meet at Pickerington, after winning their district Thomas Worthington faded to sixth at the Pickerington Regional. Their average time from the district to the regional meet increased by over 40 seconds, and definitely cost them a trip to Scioto Downs. Worthington does have the best pack of runner coming back in Division 1, by having 1 though 5 split of just 21.7 seconds. If the pack can pick up the pace, drop some time they should have a good shot at qualifying for the state meet in November. One thing in Thomas Worthington's favor is that no teams from Cincinnati will be coming to the Pickerington Regional this year, since last year the teams from Cincy took three of the four qualifying spots from the Pickerington Regional.

Last year's 11th placed team returns all seven runners from last year's Cross Country state meet. Lead by super sophomore Anna Boyert, Medina is loaded with young talent (four of their top seven are only sophomores) and veteran leadership (the other three are seniors). Young talent and veteran leadership is a nice combination to have going into the post season. If Medina's 3-5 runners can pack up and drop some time they may have a shot at making the podium come November.

Neczypor had a fantastic sophomore campaign, going undefeated through the regular season while winning at big meets like Tiffin, Malone, and Wadsworth. Neczypor also won her district, finished third in her region and then third overall at the state meet, less than a second behind the state runner up (and #2 returning runner in this list, Michelle Thomas). Neczypor then went on to finish second at the Nike Midwest Regional meet and 23rd overall at the Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon. Neczypor also had a terrific track season, winning the Indoor state meet in the 1600m run by running sub 5:00 minutes, and then winning the 3200m in the Outdoor state meet with a personal record time of 10:39. Neczypor then finished her track season by placing 9th at the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Thomas won a total of seven meets last year, including Brian Plasman, Jim Neu, Tiffin (varsity B race), Georgetown, Harrison, her conference meet and her rerional meet (where she beat state champion Brooklyne Ridder). Thomas' four defeats all came at the hands of Ridder, but in every one of those showdowns, Thomas finished right behind Ridder. Thomas also had an impressive track season, winning the 3200m run at the Indoor state meet, and then finishing third in both the 1600m and the 3200m at the Outdoor state meet. This year's state race looks to between Thomas and Neczypor, and if the past is any indication, Thomas, who has beaten Neczypor by one place in each of the last two Cross Country state meets, has the upper hand in this battle.
