Soto And Easter Earn National Titles On Huge Day 4 For Ohio

Riley Buchholz / Beavercreek

   

Riley Buchholz continued the exceptional form that he's demonstrated throughout his senior season by securing third place in the 1 Mile with his time of 4:13.88. The Beavercreek grad, who's coming off 1600 victories at the D1 State Championship and the Midwest Meet of Champions, crossed the line first in section 2 on Sunday. Once all sections had concluded, Buchholz trailed only Dolan Owens (4:10.52) and Evan Dorenkamp (4:13.29), who went head-to-head in section 4.  


Justin Braun / Thomas Worthington 

Justin Braun took All-America honors home to Thomas Worthington with his sixth place finish in the Championship 400. The D1 State Champion, who would have been eligible to contest the 400 freshman race at New Balance, clocked 47.57 while competing against the who's who of quarter-milers from throughout the country. 


Elliott Cook / Dublin Jerome

Dublin Jerome rising senior, Elliott Cook secured sixth place in the Championship 800 due to his 1:52.01 effort. Cook, who claimed runner-up honors at the Division 1 State Championship meet, will be Ohio's top 800 returner for the 2020 season. 


Dalton Shepler / Vandalia-Butler


Division 1 State Champion, Dalton Shepler finished in a tie for sixth place in the Championship pole vault event with a clearance of 16-1.25. The soon to be Vandalia-Butler senior headed to New Balance having won every competition that he entered during the 2019 season. The big meet experience he acquired this past weekend is sure to pay dividends in future national meets. 


Justin Wirtz / Avon Lake

(It's been quite a few weeks for Justin Wirtz, who took fourth place at the D1 State Meet) 

Justin Wirtz produced a throw of 185-7 to capture sixth place in the discus event. This mark represents a new pr for the Avon Lake rising senior. 


Warren / 4x400 Team 

           (The Warren relay teams put up impressive performances - 4x800 members shown above)

The 4x400 squad from Warren earned a fifth place finish in the Emerging Elite Division with their 3:20.84 clocking. This comes on the heels of a 7:54.98 runner-up showing in the EE 4x800 on Friday. 


Kings / 4x800 Team (Saturday Highlight) 

         

The 4x800 relay team from Kings represented Ohio admirably in the Championship Division with their All-America performance. The quartet of Jacob Krynock, Zack Justus, Ryan O'Connor and Alex Justus clocked 7:45.07 for fifth place.
