On Saturday, the Industrial Vault Club will host the Ohio Independent Association of Athletes Pole Vault Championships, starting at 10:00 am.
MileSplit Ohio connected with Coach Dave Mackey to learn more about his rationale for putting the summer series together.
"Back when the schools first started shutting down, I promised my kids that we would have some type of outdoor season, complete with a State Championship if the OHSAA season got cancelled."
"It may not be as big or glamorous as Jesse Owens Stadium, but I'm excited that we have the opportunity to see this come to fruition."
"This is so important to our kids, especially our seniors who had pretty much every other right of passage taken from them this year. Hopefully this adds just a little part of normalcy to an otherwise chaotic year."
