Results From The Highland County Invitational
MileSplit Ohio's Shawn Conlon made his way to Leesburg on Tuesday for the Highland County XC Championships. In High School Varsity Division action, Cohen Frost capitalized on home course advantage, as he pocketed his sixth consecutive triumph to open the 2020 campaign.
While his most recent outing wasn't his fastest (17:27.38), it was all about propelling his group from Leesburg-Fairfield to the win on this day, as they posted 36 points to outpace the runner-up team from Lynchburg-Clay, who recorded 44 points.
Frost was the 16th place finisher at the 2019 OHSAA Division 3 State Championship meet and owns a personal best mark over 5k of 16:27.25.
Not only did Frost cross the line first for what is now half a dozen times in a row, but, more importantly, he led his team to their fifth win of the season. We reached out to him for more context on his race at Leesburg and his thoughts on the season as whole.
"The race for me was not my best, but not my worst. It was a tough course, but my goal was just to push through it and try and get the win."
"Our team's goal is making it back to the state meet for the eighth consecutive year. We've lost a lot of talent over the past few years and we are hoping to train ourselves to fill those shoes and take the team back to state for another year."
"We've got some freshmen that we are working on getting up to speed from middle school to help us make another postseason run."
